“All it took was a few seconds.” These are truly some of the most heartbreaking words any parent could utter or hear.
That’s why Baby Otter Survival Swim Academy exists. Our passion and goal is to do all we can to prevent those words from ever being spoken or heard. Obviously our main way of doing that is through our survival swim lessons, but thankfully there’s an abundance of resources out there to help keep parents informed and equipped to keep their kids safe around water.
Here’s a list of some of our favorite water-safety resources:
Tennessee-based water-safety advocate Nicole Hughes
Facts, risk factors, resources and more on drowning from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
“Prevention of Drowning” studies and strategies by the American Academy of Pediatrics
Global facts on drowning and prevention strategies by the World Health Organization
Drowning Prevention Toolkit by the American Academy of Pediatrics
“Association Between Swimming Lessons and Drowning in Childhood,” case-control study by Drs. Brenner, Taneja, Haynie, et al.
